Case study

Tyre online store with fitting service booking

Parametric tyre and wheel search, basket, coupons and fitting appointment booking.

Home screen: search by width, height, diameter and season on the first screen, with the most popular sizes.

ProblemBuyers know their car or the size printed on their old tyre, but cannot match it to the product range. And the sale does not end with the product, because tyres have to be fitted.

SolutionSearch by size or by car that narrows the choice step by step. The fitting slot is booked within the same checkout, and every use of a discount coupon is recorded.

Context

When buying tyres online, buyers often do not know exactly what they need. They know the make of their car or the size printed on the sidewall of the old tyre, but cannot match it to the product range.

And the sale does not end with the product. Tyres have to be fitted, so the store and the workshop are one process here.

What needed solving

First, parametric search was needed. Tyres are selected by width, profile, diameter, season, and load and speed indices, and wheels need a few more parameters. The buyer had to find the product in a few choices, without digging through a long list of filters.

The next question was fitting times. If a buyer purchases tyres and only then learns that the next free fitting slot is two weeks away, the experience is spoiled at the very end.

How the store is organised

Search narrows step by step. The buyer starts with the size or the car and sees only products that fit.

The basket works as usual, and discount coupons can be applied. Every use of a coupon is recorded, so it is clear which promotion actually worked.

The fitting slot is booked within the same checkout. The buyer sees free slots and books fitting together with the product.

Each order has a status history and a delivery method, and customer addresses are saved, so the next purchase is quicker.

Alongside the store there is a blog with seasonal topics. Online searches for tyres spike before each season, and articles prepared in advance are the cheapest way to reach those buyers.

Technical decisions

Parametric search instead of categories. The tyre range is too large to browse comfortably by category, and buyers think in sizes.

Fitting booked at checkout. The fitting slot is part of the purchase. If booking were on a separate page, some buyers would skip it and run into the problem later.

Coupon usage history. Without it, the result of a promotion cannot be measured, and coupons are easier to abuse.
